Cheat Dinner/Dessert Favorites: Listed below are our TOP places to go, there are of course so many more to list!!! But we are regulars at these few locations.
Once a week, almost every Saturday, my boyfriend and I will go out for a big dinner and finish it off with some ice cream, cookies…and brownies. Okay so we go a little over the top, me more so than him, but we really enjoy doing this once a week. It’s fun and it allows us to be human and just not give AF about having abs and muscle separation. One night a week will not ruin any long term goals, maybe a few days of bloating and water retention, but we know we will be in the gym at least 6 days the following week. We both were so extreme for so long, that really our bodies need a break from rigorous dieting and training for the soul purpose of performance and aesthetics.
*Back Story: I am a WNBF Pro Bikini Competitor and a Nationally Qualified NPC bikini competitor, and my boyfriend is a Pro Fighter in MMA, Muay Thai, and Boxing. *
Training hard is what we do. If you have been here before I would love to hear what your favorite dishes are or if you have any restaurant suggestions for me to try in this area!!
**Please tag me in your food photos @its.thatgirlsasha, I would love to live vicariously through your food, since we will be moving out of state next week.**
I hope you enjoy these places as much as we do!
The FIX (Worcester, MA)– We go here religiously, they have some of the best burgers, shakes, and appetizers! Oh and onion rings like no other, they seriously melt in your mouth. I always get extra BBQ sauce on the side, because I’m the condiment Queen. I usually will order my burgers pink, because #THavage, with a salad as my side..and a few onion rings.
The Phenomenal: bacon, smoked gouda, fried egg, frizzled onion, sweet chili ranch, brioche roll
The 802: maple aioli, grass fed beef, Grafton’s smoked cheddar cheese sliced granny smith apples, griddled onion, apple wood bacon, multigrain bun. *ADD AN EGG!*
The Spartan: lamb patty, herb goat cheese, arugula, red onion, tomato, sundried tomato artichoke spread, brioche roll
– Short Rib Potato chip Nachos
– Buffalo Blue Cheese Shrimp Nachos
– Poutine (Quebec)
Willies Steak House (Shrewsbury, MA)- SUSHI, SUCHI, SUCHI. Surprised? Willies Steak House absolutely has the best sushi bar that I have ever had, and trust me we have had a lot of sushi. We have gone here almost every week for 5 years!! When you go, you must visit Kenzo, he is the head sushi chef. He is the nicest guy with the coolest stories to tell. It really is a dinner and a show as you get told jokes and are able to watch the sushi get made right before you! If you are not up for sushi, just about everything else on their dinner menu is amazing as well, this place is such a hidden gem, with the nicest hostesses, waiters, and upper management and beautifully arranged meals. The presentation here is phenomenal.
** There are a few things I don’t know the exact name of because Kenzo makes them special for us, but I will do my best to describe them/ insert pictures.**
Besame Mucho- Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, avocado, wasabi orange teriyaki
Crunchy Lobster (But with salmon instead)- Lobster tempura, sweet potato tempura, topped with avocado
Shrimp Tempura- Shrimp tempura, tobiko, scallion, cucumber & avocado roll
**Crab Ragoon Sushi Roll- AMAZING!! Warm and cheesy with a crunchy tempura and crap. MUST TRY!
**Sushi Cone- Beautifully wrapped “sushi ice cream cone looking thing” in either sea weed or cucumber.
Willies Korean Bulgogi– Spicy beef, onion, scallions in a spicy Korean sauce
Beef Taki– Rare beef served with scallions, grated daikon radish and ponzu sauce
**Salmon Caesar Salad: This is actually not on the menu, but it’s amazing. The salmon is all sushi grade and comes with a heaping pile of fried onion strings on top. It’s to die for. I usually get the dressing on the side so I can dip as I please.
The Rail Trail (Hudson, MA)– One of the best (if not the best) flat bread pizza places I have ever been too. We usually go here with a group because…
1. You can’t make a reservation for two
2. Because there needs to be a good reason to order four large pizzas!!!
I usually will order a Ceasar Salad as well just because I really like to eat my pizza slices on top of my salad. It just tastes really good to me.
** The menu is constantly changing! So sorry if there is an item I list that is no longer on the menu!
Buffalo Chicken –creamy buffalo base, braised chicken, crumbly bleu, cheese blend, chives
Hawaiian-BBQ base, pulled pork, pineapple, caramelized onions, cheese blend (contains gluten, can not be made gluten free)
Fig & Walnut – Roasted garlic base, caramelized onion, black mission figs, cheese blend, honey fig balsamic reduction, arugula, walnuts | add prosciutto
Cheese Burger– ketchup and mustard base, ground beef, caramelized onion, American cheese, pickles, cheese blend, arugula, cherry tomato
Pumpkin Chickpea Hummus– This as amazing, I believe it was seasonal though. It was a delicious “Indian Curry” tasting hummus spread with Nan like bread served on the side.
Wooberry (Worcester, MA)- Best tasting by far. The froyo here is so creamy and never icey!! I love the original tarte flavor and the vanilla, when they have it. *This place is Not self-serve*
Yoway(Worcester, MA) If you like a wider variety of froyo flavors and like having more control over your own concoctions/portion sizes then this is place to go!
New City Micro Creamery(Hudson, MA)- Conveniently located across the street from The Rail Trail, you will find some of the best real ice cream you’ll ever have. They have a ton of unique and classic flavors, the cookie dough, original Oreo and peanut butter are my favorite!!! The froyo is made with a nitrogen freezing process which keep the ice cream so so creamy and fantastic. The waffle cones here are amazing as well.
* Dairy is sourced from a local farm!!
Yummy Mummy (Westborough, MA)- We only show up for the brownies (though I’m sure there cakes/cookies are amazing as well). BUT, the brownies here are gigantic, cakey, soft and gooey and rich, really unlike any bakery bought brownie I have ever encountered. There are so many great flavors to choose from. They are really so good, like binge-worthy good…we have occasionally left with 6. OH! And you won’t want to pass on the PB&J cookie bar!!! Now that, is something special.
My favorites have been
-Peanut butter and Jelly Bar
-Smores * Specialty brownie
-Cookie Dough* Specialty brownie
Holy Cannoli– Okay two things from here have rocked my world. The Dynamite stick, both the original and the PB log, and the frosting-filled cookie that is shaped like a cup cake. Yah, it’s amazing. The mini cakes are delicious as well. Anything filled with marzipan.
